Thank you for considering Vivid Reveries Press as a home for your work. These Terms and Conditions of Submission (“Terms”) govern the submission, review, and potential publication of creative works (“Work”) submitted to Vivid Reveries Press (“we,” “our,” “us”).

By submitting your Work to us via our Website, email, or other official channels, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. OUR INVITATION: SUBMIT.

We openly welcome unsolicited submissions from writers, poets, artists, and creators whose work aligns with our mission of publishing bold, fiercely honest, and radical literature and art. Whether you’re an emerging voice or a seasoned creator, we invite you to share your work with us. No agents, credentials, or prior publishing experience are required.

2. ROYALTIES AND PAYMENT TERMS

Vivid Reveries Press is committed to ethical, transparent, and equitable compensation for our authors and artists.

Our royalty structure is as follows:

  • Standard Royalty Rate:
    Authors and artists will receive a royalty of 30% to 40% of net profits per copy sold. The specific rate will be outlined in your individual contract upon acceptance.

  • Upfront Payment and Advance Structure:

    • No upfront payment is issued for an author’s or artist’s first publication with Vivid Reveries Press.

    • For subsequent works, a guaranteed advance payment is offered in recognition of proven readership and long-term partnership:

      • $100 AUD advance on second publication

      • $150 AUD advance on third publication

      • $200 AUD advance on fourth publication and beyond

    • Advances are non-refundable and paid against future royalties.

  • Transparent Accounting:
    Sales reports and royalty statements will be issued quarterly.

3. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PROSPECTIVE AUTHOR/ARTIST

By submitting your Work to Vivid Reveries Press, you agree that:

  • The Work is your original creation, and you hold all necessary rights and permissions.

  • The Work has not been previously published elsewhere in full (unless disclosed upon submission).

  • If accepted, you will collaborate openly with our editorial and design team during the publishing process.

  • You will participate in marketing and promotion to the best of your ability, with reasonable support from us.

  • You agree to notify us immediately if the Work becomes subject to any claims or disputes regarding ownership or rights.

4. OUR RESPONSIBILITIES TO OUR AUTHORS AND ARTISTS

If your Work is accepted for publication, Vivid Reveries Press commits to:

  • Providing a fair, transparent, and respectful contract clearly outlining rights, royalties, and responsibilities.

  • Engaging in a collaborative editorial process where your voice and creative agency are prioritized.

  • Granting you final approval over the presentation and design of your Work before publication.

  • Offering financially competitive royalties of 30%-40%, significantly above the industry average.

  • Providing quarterly sales statements and prompt royalty payments.

  • Actively promoting your Work through our website, store, social media platforms, newsletter, and community events.

  • Offering ongoing professional and emotional support as a creative partner.

  • Making available accessibility initiatives such as our Pay-It-Forward Program and Sliding Scale Pricing to ensure your Work reaches wider, more financially diverse audiences.

5. ETHICAL PUBLISHING PRACTICES

Vivid Reveries Press is dedicated to anti-exploitative, anti-capitalist publishing principles and aims to treat authors and artists not as products but as collaborators and partners.
This means:

  • Higher royalties than industry standards.

  • Transparent financial and operational processes.

  • No exploitative contract clauses or hidden fees.

  • No upfront payment demands or pay-to-publish models.

  • Recognition of long-term partnerships through increasing advance payments.

  • Respect for creative agency in editorial decisions, cover design, and marketing materials.

6. RIGHTS AND LICENSES

If accepted for publication, authors and artists will grant Vivid Reveries Press a non-exclusive, worldwide license to reproduce, distribute, display, market, and sell the Work in print and digital formats for an agreed-upon term (typically 3–5 years, negotiable in the contract).

You retain full copyright ownership of your Work at all times.

Rights to the Work revert to you upon contract expiration or termination under agreed terms.

7. SUBMISSION REVIEW PROCESS

  • All submissions will be acknowledged via email within 7 business days.

  • Depending on volume of submissions, response times for decisions may take up to 6–8 weeks.

  • Not all submissions will be accepted, but all will be reviewed with care and respect.

  • If declined, rights to the Work remain entirely with the author or artist.

8. CONFIDENTIALITY

All submitted Works and personal information are handled with strict confidentiality. Vivid Reveries Press will not disclose your Work or details without your explicit written permission unless required by law.

9. AMENDMENTS TO THESE TERMS

Vivid Reveries Press reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Updated Terms will be published on our Website with the effective date noted. Your continued submissions after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
